Annual Fund

Drawing the human figure from a live model has been at the foundation of most art programs throughout the world and across the centuries.  If you have an interest in portrait painting, character design, comics/manga, game design, illustration, animation, fasion design, anatomical drawing, or just learning to "see" better, this is for you!

Life Drawing Studio at Galveston Arts Center meets every Monday night from 5:30-7:15pm. (1.75 hours.) Live models pose for short "gesture" drawings (or warm-ups) at the beginning of each session, followed by increasingly longer poses of up to 90 minutes. Models may appear in costume, nude, or semi-clothed. The preferences of both models and participants are taken into account regarding pose timing and costuming/clothing.

Artists are encouraged you to bring their own materials and supplies, (please, no photography). Art supplies are also available in our ArtWokrs gift shop on the first floor. Our spacious, well-lit studio is equipped with 8 standing easels--so feel free to bring paints--and 16 adjustable-angle drafting tables.

$10 per session
8 session passes are available for $60.
Payments accepted at the door: cash or check. Credit cards accepted ahead of time.
Drop-ins welcome!
